Briggs Turner died here in 1857,
after living a quarter century in the fine home he built. His son Henry
lived here from 1857 to 1863. From April 1863 to July 1864 Alvin Piper,
for whom Piper Road was named had the house. Thomas and Charlotte
Gray lived here from 1864 to 1892. Charlotte gave the land to the
G.A.R. hall across the road, in September 1884. From 1892 to 1896
Charles A. Bruce was the owner. Then George W. Reynolds had his 22 year
tenure from 1896 to 1918. Ben Fowles then became the owner and passed it
to his son Theron Fowles. In 1973 The Avco Finance company was the new
owner and that same year Tim and Martha Chase began what probably will
be the longest stretch of ownership in this wonderful home. |
