Benne |
Paula Benne lives
with her husband Tom, on lower Townhouse Road . Merigold Farm has been their
home for over 20 years. T & P, as they are known by their friends, practice many of the long
forgotten rural crafts. This is their way of life.
As dairy farmers they make butter and raise replacement heifers. As woods
workers they produce firewood and lumber.
But it is as artists that the couple are best known.

Paula makes hooked rugs. She searches out sources of unusual woolen materials
necessary for the creative interpretation of her designs. Often she must hand
dye the material to achieve her goals. Tom helps with the drawing and design.
Her work has been shown in galleries, libraries, restaurants and in the UMA's
"Mile of Art". She also makes commissioned rug creations.
Paula's "home rugs" are quite popular.
