Pat was born in Philadelphia. She was educated at the University of Massachusetts. She and her husband John came to Alexander in 1972 and created their homestead, including building from native stone a house, a garage and a workshop. Theirs was the first stone house in Alexander.

Pat and John have four Maine born daughters, Caitlin, Gillian, Bronwyn and Caredwen. All four played violins of various shapes and sizes. It was for the girls that Pat wrote the story of a young boy who befriended an old violinmaker who taught the boy about music and friendship. What a special Christmas present!
