South Island

Here begins a series of images we have made as we
travel to the cooler and more rural and beautiful South Island. Almost
immediately upon arriving from the ferry at Picton and traveling the mountainous
curved road to Nelson we see that these mountains are more rugged and snow
peaked.
We drove up to the Able Tasman National Park on the north shore. Later we hiked
in to the Franz Josef and Fox glaciers and more than one majestic waterfall. We
camped on remote lake shores and hiked up a nearly vertical trail for 45 minutes
to a dramatic view.

beach. We considered that hike the quintessential stress test.
