WHITEFIELD BICENTENNIAL PHOTO CONTEST (A GIFT TO WHITEFIELD’S FUTURE RESIDENTS) Many of us have seen those rare old photographs of Whitefield people and landmarks, some of which date back to the 1800’s. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have more of those showing what our predecessors, our homes, our properties and other town landmarks looked like 100 years ago? Though it may be too late for us, we have a great opportunity to make this a reality for people living here when Whitefield celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2059 and those who follow. In support of this idea, the Whitefield Bicentennial Committee is announcing a photo contest open to all friends of Whitefield. The theme of this contest will be “Everything Whitefield”. We would like to photographically document how we and our community looked in 2008/2009, and make this effort fun at the same time. The more entries we receive from people in all reaches of Whitefield, the more complete our gift to the future will be. Suggestions for entries might include photos of your home, your family portrait taken in Whitefield, town landmarks (such as mills, bridges, waterfalls, churches, businesses, villages, halls), or anything else you can think of relating to 2008/2009 Whitefield. Our plan is to display photo entries at various times during our Bicentennial Year. We will limit entries to one per person, and, for both uniformity’s sake and display and storage purposes, ask that photos be submitted matted (not framed) in an 8x10 or 8 1/2x11 format. All entries will become the property of the Whitefield Historical Society to be preserved for the future.
Please contact Christopher Stultz at (207) 549-5698 or email him at whitefieldphoto@yahoo.com if you have any questions on the contest rules.
